There’s lots of good food growing in our garden, and every day brings something new to admire and harvest.
Here’s this week’s veggie haul:
As many beans as you can take
Any leftover peas
2-3 Beets (nearest corn)
A few sprigs of Basil
Head of Cabbage
5-6 Carrots (ones closest to tomatoes)
One cucumber
Handful of cherry tomatoes
As much lettuce as you can take
3-4 leaves of chard
All this for only an hour of volunteering or a $5 ‘veggie bucks card’ at Amazing Grains!

Our second time at the Town Square Farmers Market was successful and fun. Thank you Jess, Jennifer, Jeff, and Marva for all of your hard work and help!
This Tuesday (7/3) we will have our work day from 7-9am– NOT 4-6pm. Hopefully we will be able to avoid the heat… it’s been into the 90s the past few days. Hope everyone is staying cool.
If you find yourself looking for something to do on the 4th of July, come to the garden around 8pm for a potluck. Bring friends and something tasty to share and get acquainted with the garden. It’s only blocks away from the fireworks show, too.
We will no longer be having Saturday morning work days– instead we will be meeting Sundays from 6-8pm. Hope to see you all soon.

Also growing in the garden are hundreds of flowers, some neat varieties of corn, lots of peas and beans, beets, carrots, squash, pumpkins, cucumbers, hot and sweet peppers, cabbage, many varieties of herbs, onions, and more. Needless to say, volunteers should be pleased to notice a decrease in their grocery bill for the rest of the season.
Also, due to the Farmers Market we will no longer have Saturday work days in the garden. Instead, we will meet Sundays from 6-8pm in the garden. If you are a regular on Saturday morning work days, we’d love your help in Town Square and hope you can make it on Sunday evenings as well. Our Tuesday work day from 4-6pm will remain the same.
We hope to see you soon!

Yesterday’s garden work day was successful. We planted more peas and beans, spinach, lettuce mix, and all sorts of carrots. We also set up a couple trellises and weeded a bit. Thank you to everyone who helped! Most of the garden is now planted, but we still need to set up a couple trellises for peas and tomatoes, make signs to clearly mark the rows, and there are a few things left to plant. If you can believe it, we already have radishes, arugula, chamomile,
and spinach ready for harvest.
The annual Town Square Farmers Market begins Saturday, June 19th, and we hope to have a presence there. If you are interested in helping us at the garden or staffing the farmers market booth, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
Currently, volunteer hours at the garden are: Tuesdays 4-6pm and Saturdays 9am-12pm. Stop by and introduce yourself!
These are French Breakfast radishes– crunchy, spicy, sweet, and very juicy. Radishes are great in salads, or, for something different, try roasting them with olive oil, rosemary, and salt and pepper.
